"Arogya"(health) is the watch world for every individual who is a workaholic,failing which the essence of success will be robbed by ill health.The provider of goog health in Hindu Mythology is as old as the celestial blast in the Milky Ocean,"Ksheera Sagara". When it was chumed by Suras and Asuras,many a rare creations were seen; Lakshmi the Goddess of wealth,Kamadhenu the celestial cow, and the Lord Dhanvantri appeared amongst others with the Amrutha Kalasa(pot with nectar), Conferring immortality.

The famous one is at srirangam in Trichy. Even the naivedhya for the Lord Ranganatha is to be offered first to Lord Dhanvantri. Shaivites also have similar places of worship like Vaitheswaran temple near Mayavaram and Maruntheeswarar temple in Chennai. The Dhanvantri temple near Walajapet in TamilNadu is a unique one and the deity is of 7 ft tall and very impressive, soliciting immediate attention of the devotees seeking solace. The idol Lord Dhanvantri sculpted at Mahabalipuram is sanctified with the script of mantras written by lakhs of devotees, which are encased in the hollow of the idol, offering the positive vibration to the devotee seeking healing. Miracles are said to have been observed at this temple. Such is the sanctity of the precincts.

The premises houses, among other things, 27 saplings of trees assigned to each asterisms like peepal tree for the star Pushya, Banyan for Makha, Bel(vivla)for Chitra, Gooseberry for Bharani etc., there is a beautiful shrine for Goddess Mahishasura Mardhini, the remover of obstacles.

Speciality of the temples is that the devotee himself can perform havan.
